What is Blow molding?

Blow molding is a process of producing hollow plastics where a soft, heated-by-blowing tube, called a parison, is blown through the shape of the required mold cage. The method is utilized in every case of necessity to manufacture bottles, containers, or merely other hollow products.

Key Characteristics of Blow Moulding:

  1. Material usage: It preferably uses thermoplastic polymers like polyethylene, polypropylene, and PET, depending on the application.

  2. Mould Design: Blow moulds or blow moulding dies are typically manufactured from metals of sufficient strength to withstand high pressure system and high temperature and for accurate formation of hollow articles.

  3. Applications: Standard use in the manufacture of plastic bottles, fuel tanks, and containers, forming part of the broader Plastic Moulds family used across various industries,

Types of Blow Moulding:

  • Extrusion Blow Moulding, EBM: Hence at some point the plastic is put into the form of a tube then squeezed into the mould, air is then blown into it and suddenly it assumes the shape of the mould.

  • Injection blow molding is where melted plastic is injected cast into a pre form tool to form a parison which is then transferred to a blow tool and inflated.

  • Injection Stretch Blow Moulding (ISBM): Effect carried out injection molding making a preform; reheated performance is created.Using a rod, the same gets stretched and then blown into the final shape, which gives better strength with clarity.

Steps in Blow Moulding:

  • Extrusion or Injection: Sights are also drilled and tapped and a parison is made by extrusion or injection moulding.

  • Clamping: This parison is then fitted in a split mould which later closes on the center of the parison.

  • Blowing: Pressurized air is then pushed into this parison to expand it to the shape of the cavity that is in the mould.

  • Cooling: Afterwards, the mould as well as the part are cooled to afford the solidification of the plastic.

  • Ejection: After that, the mould is opened and the g hospitaller is ejected where the final, hollow part of Shape Me is held.

Advantages of Blow Moulding:

  • Cost-Effective: Suitable for the mass production of work pieces with a hollow structure.

  • Design Flexibility: It has the ability to make many shapes and sizes all at once.

  • Material Efficiency: Compared with other kinds of solid moulding processes, it means that it utilizes a lesser amount of material.

  • Fast Production Rates: Fast process that is useful for production in large quantities.

Here are some products:

  • Blow Mould: A vacuum formed tool in which heated plastic is expanded, as a blank in producing a hollow item of required shape in the mould chamber through the method of blow moulding.

  • Injection Stretch Blow Mould, ISBM: A process of moulding in which the injection moulding and blow moulding processes are carried out in a single step to make plastic bottles and containers.

  • ISBM: Injection Stretch Blow Mould (Two Stage): A mould used in a process in which preforms are first injection moulded and then again heated which are then blown into a finished shape.

  • Extrusion Blow Mould: It is one of the manufacturing processes which is accompanied by the blow moulding process in which plastics are extruded and then expanded to create a cavity or hollow part of that particular product.

  • Injection Blow Mould: Here the plastic material will already be injected into a ‘preform’ inside the mold then blown to the required size and shape.

Stating that blow molding is one of the most versatile and productive processes for manufacturing light-weight and high-strength, hollow and elaborated plastic goods.
